Surfaces must be cleaned of dirt and oil; old paints and varnishes should be sanded to obtain a clean, dry surface. On new surfaces, knots should be burned and saturated with Silkcoat Pinoten. Before applying Yacht Varnish, Silkcoat Pinoten is applied to obtain a tinted surface and increase wood durability. Yacht Varnish can be applied by roller or brush without thinning. For spray applications, dilute 10-15% with synthetic thinner
