Cratering, Fisheyes, Micro-Foaming
Air pockets forming small bubbles on the surface during paint application.
Causes
- Shaking the paint can too vigorously
- Choosing a low-quality product
- Applying paint too quickly
- Using the wrong roller
- Over-rolling the surface
- Applying semi-gloss or gloss paint on rough substrates
Solution
Avoid over-mixing the paint and do not use old products. When applying semi-gloss or gloss paint, choose a short-nap roller. Sand problem areas and repaint them.
