Sheen Difference When Wiped
A difference in colour and appearance between matte and glossy areas when the painted surface is wiped.
Causes
- Using matte paint where semi-gloss paint should have been used in high-traffic areas
- Frequent washing
- Rubbing against the wall
- Using paint with low abrasion resistance
Solution
In crowded, frequently cleaned spaces (schools, cinemas, hospitals, etc.) use a high-quality acrylic-based washable paint. In such spaces, choose semi-matte or silky-matte paints rather than fully matte ones. When a painted surface gets dirty, wipe it immediately with a damp cloth, pressing gently.
