Fading
Colour fading — light or severe — usually on sunny, south-facing facades; dusting from chalking can also contribute to fading.
Causes
- Using an interior paint instead of an exterior one
- Using low-quality paint prone to chalking
- Painting with colours sensitive to UV rays
- Overloading white paint with pigment to tint it
Solution
Clean off any chalking and repaint the surface with colours suited to exteriors. Avoid overly vivid reds, yellows and blues.
