Chalking
White, chalky residue appearing along with colour fading in the paint film.
Causes
- Using paint with a high filler ratio
- Using low-quality paint
- Using paint suited to interiors, which lacks exterior durability
Solution
Clean the chalk off the surface with a soft brush, then wash it with water and let it dry. Once you're sure the surface is free of chalk, prime it and repaint with a quality acrylic or silicone-based paint suited to exteriors.
