How do you apply velvet effect paint?

Velvet effect paint is applied in two coats over a primed surface that has been tinted with Silkomatt; each coat is patterned in circles with a special trowel before it dries. Following Silkcoat's Velvetto application instructions:

  1. Prepare the surface: Clean off all dust, dirt and grease, and lightly sand any blistered or previously painted surfaces all over. Repair defects and cracks with Akrilik Macun.
  2. Prime: Use Silkcoat İzolac on surfaces levelled with gypsum plaster, Universal Astar on old, dirty or solvent-based painted surfaces, and Silkcoat Macun Astarı on filled surfaces.
  3. Apply the base colour: As the final base coat, apply a single coat of Silkomatt in the Velvetto shade.
  4. First coat: Roll Velvetto onto the surface. Before it fully dries, create the pattern with a special trowel using circular motions. Leave it to dry for 4-6 hours, depending on conditions.
  5. Second coat: Once the first coat is dry, apply Velvetto in a thin layer with a decorative trowel or roller, then pattern it in circles with the special trowel before it dries.
  6. Clean your tools: Wash tools with water straight after application.

Stir the paint until smooth and uniform before use, and keep the room and surface temperature between +5 °C and +35 °C throughout application and drying. Very glossy or glass-like surfaces should be sanded first.

How long does velvet effect paint take to dry?

Velvetto and Velvetto Soft are fully dry in 24 hours. They are touch dry in 30-45 minutes and dust-free after 1 hour. Allow 4-6 hours between coats, depending on conditions.
